iDebit casinos let you pay straight from a Canadian bank account by signing in to your online banking inside a secure iDebit window. The casino gets an instant confirmation, the money is drawn from your chequing account in CAD, and at many sites winnings can be sent back through iDebit to your bank. It has been a fixture of Canadian-facing cashiers for years and is the closest remaining alternative to Interac now that Instadebit has closed. This guide covers how iDebit works, deposits and withdrawals, fees, limits, safety and how it compares with other bank methods.

What is iDebit?
iDebit is a Canadian payment service that connects online merchants with your bank. When you choose it in a casino cashier, a secure iDebit window opens, you select your bank and authorise the payment by signing in to online banking. iDebit confirms the payment to the casino straight away, and the money is taken from your chequing account. The casino never receives your banking login or account number.
It works with the major Canadian banks, such as RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC and National Bank, and with many credit unions; the bank list shown in the iDebit window is the definitive check. Like Interac, it involves no card, no credit and no currency conversion. The difference is that iDebit sits between you and the bank as its own service, so you create a profile the first time you use it, and iDebit's own terms, limits and fees apply.
iDebit is not Instadebit
The names are easily confused. Instadebit was a separate company with its own stored-value account; it stopped taking payments in February 2026 and closed in April 2026. iDebit is unaffected. If a cashier still shows an Instadebit logo, assume it is out of date and use iDebit or Interac instead. Our Instadebit page explains what happened to remaining balances.
Why casinos offer iDebit
For casinos, iDebit offers an instantly confirmed bank payment from a verified Canadian account, which suits the anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering checks every licensed operator must run. It appears on Ontario-registered sites as well as at many casinos licensed elsewhere (for example in Malta, Curaçao, Kahnawake or Anjouan) that accept Canadian players. Availability varies, so check each cashier.
What you need to use iDebit
- A chequing account at a participating Canadian bank or credit union.
- Online banking access, including any two-step verification your bank uses.
- Personal details for your free iDebit profile: name, address, date of birth, email and phone number.
- A casino account in the same name as your bank account.
How to deposit with iDebit
- Open the casino cashier, choose iDebit and enter the amount in CAD.
- In the iDebit window, sign in to your profile or create one with your personal details.
- Select your bank and sign in with your online banking credentials.
- Choose the chequing account to pay from and confirm the amount.
- You return to the casino, where the deposit usually shows immediately.
Your first iDebit payment can take longer because of profile set-up and identity checks. Later deposits are typically a few clicks.
How to withdraw with iDebit
A big reason players look for casinos that accept iDebit is that, unlike deposit-only methods such as prepaid vouchers, it can support payouts. Not every casino offers iDebit withdrawals, so check the withdrawal tab of the cashier and not just the deposit options.
- Complete the casino's identity verification before you request your first payout; see our KYC guide.
- In the cashier's withdrawal section, choose iDebit and enter the amount.
- Wait for the casino's review, which commonly takes from a few hours to a couple of business days.
- Once approved, the funds go to your iDebit profile.
- Transfer them to your linked bank account, if this is not done automatically.
From casino approval to money in your bank, review sites report around one to five business days, depending on the casino and your bank. Some casinos cap the amount per transaction or per week, and many ask you to withdraw to the method you deposited with where possible. If iDebit payouts are not available, Interac e-Transfer is usually the closest substitute. Our how to withdraw guide covers the process across methods.
iDebit fees and limits
Casinos rarely charge for iDebit deposits. iDebit itself may apply flat fees to some transactions; review sites have reported charges of roughly C$1.50 on bank-funded payments and around C$2 to move money from iDebit to a bank account. Fees change, so read the current schedule in your iDebit profile before relying on these figures.
Where iDebit costs and limits come from| Item | Set by | What to expect |
|---|
| Deposit fee | Casino | Usually none |
| Service fees | iDebit | Possible flat fee on some payments and bank transfers; check your profile |
| Minimum deposit | Casino | Often C$10–C$20 |
| Maximum per payment | Casino and iDebit | Varies; iDebit limits can rise with account history |
| Online payment limit | Your bank | Check your banking app |
| Withdrawal caps | Casino | Per transaction, day, week or month |
The lowest of these limits applies to any single payment. See our limits guide and fees guide for how they interact.

iDebit on mobile
iDebit works in mobile browsers and inside casino apps: the iDebit window opens as a pop-up or new tab, and you sign in to your bank there. If your bank uses app-based approval or a one-time code, keep your phone handy. Pop-up blockers are a common cause of a blank iDebit window on mobile, so allow pop-ups for the casino's cashier if nothing appears.
iDebit and casino bonuses
iDebit deposits generally qualify for welcome, reload, free-spin and cashback offers, but read the terms first: the qualifying deposit is often higher than the cashier minimum, wagering requirements apply, and a few promotions exclude specific methods. Our guide to bonuses and payment methods explains what to look for.
Is iDebit safe?
iDebit uses encrypted connections and your bank's own authentication, and the casino never receives your banking login or account number. As with any service that asks for online banking credentials, take a few precautions:
- Start every payment from the official casino cashier; never enter your banking password on a page reached from an email or text link.
- Check the address bar shows the genuine iDebit domain with a secure connection.
- Keep two-step verification on at your bank and review your statements regularly.
- Read your bank's online banking agreement, as some address entering credentials into third-party services.
Like Interac, a completed iDebit payment is not a card transaction, so card-style chargebacks do not apply. See our payment security guide for more.

- Instant deposits straight from a Canadian bank account
- Withdrawals supported at some casinos
- No card details or credit involved

If you already use e-Transfer, our Interac e-Transfer casinos page explains that route; e-wallets such as MuchBetter are another option at many of the same sites. See every bank option on the banking hub.
Who iDebit suits
iDebit is a good fit if your casino does not offer Interac, if you have hit your bank's e-Transfer limit, or if you prefer a click-through bank payment to copying reference codes. It is less suitable if you want the fastest possible route to your bank, because payouts pass through iDebit first, or if you would rather not enter banking credentials into a third-party window.
Taxes and responsible play
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada; see our taxes guide. Set a budget in CAD before you play, use deposit limits and cool-off tools, and visit our responsible gambling page for helplines across Canada if play stops being fun.
Frequently asked questions
Which casinos accept iDebit deposits?
Many casinos that serve Canadian players offer iDebit, both Ontario-registered and internationally licensed. The casinos in our list above accept it; availability changes, so check the cashier before signing up.
Can I withdraw casino winnings with iDebit?
At some casinos, yes. After the casino approves the payout, funds go to your iDebit profile and on to your bank, which review sites report takes around one to five business days.
Does iDebit charge fees?
Casino deposits via iDebit are usually free, but iDebit may charge flat fees on some transactions, such as transfers to your bank. Check the current fees in your iDebit profile.
Is iDebit the same as Instadebit?
No. They were separate companies. Instadebit closed in 2026, while iDebit continues to operate and authorises payments through your online banking.
Do I need a Canadian bank account to use iDebit?
Yes. iDebit works with Canadian banks and credit unions that offer online banking, and payments are made in Canadian dollars.
Is it safe to enter my bank login in iDebit?
iDebit uses encrypted connections and the casino does not see your credentials. Only use it from the official casino cashier, check the address bar and keep two-step verification on.
Why is the iDebit window blank on my phone?
A pop-up blocker is the usual cause. Allow pop-ups for the casino site or try another browser, then start the payment again from the cashier.
Is iDebit better than Interac for casino payments?
Interac is more widely accepted and pays straight to your bank, so most players start there. iDebit is a useful alternative when Interac is not offered or your e-Transfer limit is reached.
