Tether online casinos accept USDT, the most widely used stablecoin. Because USDT is designed to hold a value of one US dollar, your balance does not swing the way it can with Bitcoin or Ethereum, which makes it popular for players who want predictable amounts. The trade-offs are different, not absent: USDT exists on many blockchains, the network you pick matters as much as the coin, it tracks the US dollar rather than the Canadian dollar, and it can be harder to buy in Canada than other crypto.

What is Tether?
Tether launched in 2014 and was the first major stablecoin: a token meant to keep a steady value by being backed by reserves rather than floating freely. Each USDT is meant to be redeemable for one US dollar from the issuer (in practice only for verified clients and large amounts). Tether publishes periodic attestations of its reserves, which it says consist largely of short-term US Treasury bills, cash and other assets. Unlike Bitcoin or Litecoin, USDT has no blockchain of its own; it is issued as a token on many networks at once.
Two features matter for casino players. First, the issuer can freeze USDT held at specific addresses, which it does in cases such as theft or sanctions. Second, the peg has held close to one dollar for most of USDT's life but has briefly slipped in periods of market stress. Both are small risks for a short casino session, but they make USDT different from cash in a bank account.
Why casinos like USDT
For a casino, a stablecoin removes the price risk of holding BTC or ETH, settles 24/7 without a bank and cannot be charged back. That suits internationally licensed casinos (for example under Curaçao, Anjouan or Kahnawake licences). Ontario's regulated market does not allow crypto payments, so registered operators there take Interac, cards and e-wallets instead. See our Ontario page for the regulated alternatives.
USDT networks compared
This is the single most important step with Tether. The casino shows USDT as several options, one per network, each with its own address. Send on exactly the network the address belongs to.
Common USDT networks at casinos| Network (token standard) | Address starts with | Fee paid in | Things to know |
|---|
| Tron (TRC-20) | T | TRX or Tron "energy" | Very common at casinos; quick; fee usually modest but depends on TRX price and your account's energy |
| Ethereum (ERC-20) | 0x | ETH (gas) | Widely supported; slower and often the most expensive |
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | 0x | BNB | Low fees; same 0x format as Ethereum, so easy to confuse |
| Solana (SPL) | Letters and numbers, no fixed prefix | SOL | Fast and cheap where supported |
| Polygon / Arbitrum | 0x | POL / ETH | Only if the cashier lists that exact network |
Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum all use 0x addresses, so your wallet will accept a casino's ERC-20 address on the wrong chain without complaint. USDT sent on a network the casino does not support may never be credited.
Confirmation times
Casinos credit USDT once the transfer has enough confirmations on its network. Tron produces a block about every three seconds and BNB Smart Chain is similarly quick, so deposits there often show up within one to a few minutes. On Ethereum, blocks come every 12 seconds and casinos may wait for more confirmations, so expect a few minutes to around a quarter of an hour. Solana is usually fastest of all. Congestion and the casino's own processing can add time.
Buying USDT in Canada
This is where Canada differs from many other countries. Under the Canadian Securities Administrators' approach to stablecoins ("value-referenced crypto assets"), registered platforms may only offer stablecoins that meet certain conditions, and since 2023 major platforms including Coinbase, Kraken and Crypto.com have stopped offering USDT to Canadian users. USDC, a rival dollar stablecoin, has generally remained available. Rules and listings change, so check what your platform offers today.
- Buy USDC instead if your casino accepts it; the deposit process is the same.
- Buy another coin and swap, for example in a self-custody wallet with a built-in swap, keeping in mind the swap fee and spread.
- Use the casino's on-ramp, if it offers a card-to-crypto widget; convenient but usually more expensive than a CAD bank-funded purchase.
- Count the FX cost: you are converting CAD into a US-dollar asset, so the exchange rate and any conversion fee are part of the price.
Wallets for USDT
Choose a wallet that supports the network your casino uses. Multi-chain mobile wallets such as Trust Wallet or Exodus handle TRC-20, ERC-20 and BEP-20 USDT in one app; TronLink is a Tron-specific option; hardware wallets such as Ledger or Trezor suit larger balances. Your wallet needs a little of the network's own coin, such as TRX on Tron or ETH on Ethereum, to pay fees; a wallet holding only USDT cannot send it. Keep your seed phrase offline and never share it.
How to deposit USDT at a casino
- In the cashier, choose USDT and then the network, for example USDT-TRC20.
- Note the minimum for that network; casinos sometimes set different minimums per network.
- Copy the address or scan the QR code, and check that its format matches the network (T… for Tron, 0x… for EVM chains).
- In your wallet, select USDT on the same network and paste the address.
- Make sure you hold enough TRX, ETH or BNB for the fee, then send.
- Keep the transaction ID; the deposit is credited after the casino's required confirmations.
Common deposit mistakes
- Wrong network: sending BEP-20 USDT to an ERC-20 address, or the reverse.
- No gas coin: the wallet cannot send because it holds no TRX, ETH or BNB.
- Wrong token: sending USDC or another stablecoin to the USDT address.
- Below the minimum: small deposits under the cashier minimum may never be credited.
- Address not checked: clipboard malware can swap a copied address; compare the first and last characters before sending.
Withdrawing USDT
Choose USDT and the network in the withdrawal section, then paste a receiving address from your own wallet for that same network. Casinos usually review payouts first and commonly ask for identity verification (KYC) before the first withdrawal or larger sums; some require two-factor authentication or let you whitelist addresses. After approval, the transfer typically lands within minutes. If your Canadian platform does not support USDT, check before withdrawing that you have a way to swap it or sell it. See our KYC guide, how to withdraw and fast crypto withdrawal casinos.
Tracking a USDT transaction
Use the explorer for the network you sent on: Tronscan for TRC-20, Etherscan for ERC-20, BscScan for BEP-20 or Solscan for Solana. Search the transaction hash to confirm it succeeded, which address received it and how many confirmations it has. Share the hash with support if a deposit is confirmed on-chain but missing from your balance, and ask the casino for it if a payout has not arrived.
Fees and the US dollar factor
You pay a network fee in the network's own coin on every transfer. On Tron it depends on whether your account has "energy" (from staked TRX) or has to burn TRX, so it varies; on Ethereum it is gas, which can be high at busy times; BNB Smart Chain, Solana and Polygon are usually cheaper. Some casinos add their own withdrawal fee, and buying or selling adds platform fees and spreads. Our fees guide covers the full cost.
Remember that stable means stable against the US dollar. If the Canadian dollar strengthens between your deposit and withdrawal, your USDT is worth fewer CAD, and the reverse also applies. You also pay a currency conversion spread each way. For most short sessions this is a small effect compared with the swings of BTC or ETH, but it is not zero.
USDT limits and payout times at casinos we list
Casinos set their own USDT minimums and maximums, sometimes per network, and often cap withdrawals per day, week or month. These are figures we recorded for casinos in our database that list Tether.

Games and bonuses with USDT
A USDT balance works across the normal lobby: slots and jackpots, blackjack, roulette and baccarat, live dealer tables, plus crash, mines, dice and other provably fair originals at crypto-first casinos. Because USDT is roughly one dollar, many sites show it directly as a USD balance, which makes bet sizes and bonus amounts easy to follow.
- Welcome and reload offers often accept USDT deposits; check that the specific network qualifies.
- Wagering, max-bet and game-weighting rules work as with any other deposit.
- Rakeback and cashback programs at crypto casinos usually credit in the coin you play with.
- Qualifying minimums are often higher than the cashier minimum.
See bonuses and payment methods for how your payment choice affects eligibility.
How safe are Tether casinos?
USDT transfers are as secure as the network they travel on, and every one is visible on a public explorer. The risks are the familiar crypto ones: irreversible transfers, no chargebacks and a balance that depends on the casino. Check the licence and complaints route, look for independent game testing (eCOGRA, iTech Labs, GLI), read the cashier rules on limits and fees, and turn on two-factor authentication. Add the USDT-specific points: the issuer and its reserves, the issuer's ability to freeze addresses, and the US-dollar exposure.
Pros
- Much lower price volatility than BTC or ETH
- Fast, cheap transfers on Tron, BNB Smart Chain and Solana
- Easy-to-follow balances close to US dollars
- Widely accepted in crypto cashiers
- Every transfer traceable on a block explorer
Cons
- Many networks; a wrong-network send can be lost
- Tracks USD, not CAD
- Not offered by several major Canadian platforms
- Depends on the issuer, who can freeze addresses
- Not available at Ontario-regulated casinos

Taxes and responsible play
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada. USDT is still a crypto asset for the CRA, so converting it can produce a gain or loss in CAD terms, mostly from exchange-rate moves. Keep records of each purchase and sale; our taxes guide has more, and a tax professional can confirm your position.
A dollar-pegged balance can make large deposits feel routine. Set a CAD budget, use the casino's deposit limits and cool-off tools, and contact services such as ConnexOntario or Gamblers Anonymous if gambling stops being fun. Our responsible gambling page lists support across Canada.
Frequently asked questions
Can Canadians use Tether at online casinos?
Yes, at internationally licensed casinos that accept USDT. Ontario-regulated operators do not accept crypto.
Which USDT network should I use?
Use exactly the network shown with the casino's deposit address. TRC-20 is common and usually cheap; ERC-20 is widely supported but costs more in gas.
Why was my USDT deposit not credited?
The usual causes are the wrong network, sending a different stablecoin, an amount below the minimum or a transfer that never left your wallet for lack of TRX or ETH. Check the hash on the network's explorer and send it to support.
Can I buy USDT in Canada?
Several major registered platforms stopped offering USDT to Canadians from 2023 under stablecoin rules. Check your platform; USDC or swapping another coin are common alternatives.
Is USDT free of price risk?
Not entirely. It tracks the US dollar, so its CAD value moves with the exchange rate, and stablecoins have occasionally traded slightly below their peg.
How fast are USDT casino withdrawals?
Once approved, most networks deliver within minutes. The casino's review and any identity checks usually take longer than the transfer.
Can I use Tether on a mobile casino?
Yes. Most crypto cashiers show a QR code you can scan with a mobile wallet such as Trust Wallet; just choose the matching network.
Are USDT casino winnings taxed?
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada, but converting USDT can create a gain or loss in CAD. Consult a tax professional.
