Skrill casinos in Canada are mostly internationally licensed sites, and many of them treat Skrill as a core payment option alongside Interac and crypto. The wallet has served online gaming for two decades, it holds balances in several currencies, and it lets you deposit and withdraw without sharing card or bank details with the casino. This guide covers how it works, what it costs and where it can trip you up. Skrill is a trademark of its owner; we have no affiliation.

What is Skrill?
Skrill is a digital wallet and e-money account. You sign up with an email address, verify your identity, then load money from a card, bank transfer or other local method. The balance can be held in a chosen currency and used to pay merchants, send money to other Skrill users, or withdraw to your bank. For casino play it works as a buffer: the operator sees your Skrill email, not your bank account.
Skrill began life as Moneybookers, one of the earliest online wallets, and became part of the Paysafe group in 2015. That shared ownership is why Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard so often appear together in casino cashiers and why their fee tables and VIP programmes look alike.
Why so many casinos accept Skrill
Skrill handles payments to and from gambling merchants in many countries, settles quickly and supports payouts back to the player. For an international casino serving several markets, that makes it a convenient single integration. Provincial lottery sites, by contrast, focus on bank-based methods, and Ontario-registered operators vary in which e-wallets they support.
Opening and verifying a Skrill account
- Sign up in the Skrill app or on the official website with your legal name and an email address you control.
- Choose your account currency; pick CAD if it is offered, to avoid conversion on every transfer.
- Verify your identity with photo ID and, for higher limits, proof of address.
- Turn on two-factor authentication before you add any money.
- Add a funding method and check the load fee shown for each option.
Use the same name and email on Skrill as on your casino account. Most casinos check that a payout account belongs to the account holder, and a mismatch is a common cause of withdrawal delays.
How to deposit at a Skrill casino
- Open the casino cashier and choose Skrill.
- Enter the deposit amount, checking the casino's minimum and any bonus qualifying amount.
- Log in to Skrill in the pop-up window or app and approve the payment, entering a 2FA code if asked.
- The money should appear in your casino balance immediately.
- Keep the Skrill transaction reference until the deposit shows in your casino history.
Skrill 1-Tap
Some cashiers offer Skrill 1-Tap, which lets you authorise a merchant once and then make later deposits without logging in each time. It is convenient but removes a natural pause before each deposit. If you enable it, set a casino deposit limit, and remember you can revoke the authorisation from your Skrill account settings.
Skrill withdrawals
Withdrawal is where Skrill earns its place. Once a casino approves your request, the money usually reaches your Skrill balance quickly, often the same day. The approval stage is the variable part: some casinos clear e-wallet payouts within hours, others keep them pending for 24 to 72 hours or process only on business days, and the first withdrawal is slower because of identity checks. Our fast withdrawal Skrill page covers timings in more depth.
- Complete the casino's KYC verification before your first withdrawal.
- Select Skrill in the withdrawal section; most casinos require a previous Skrill deposit.
- Enter the amount within the casino's minimum and maximum.
- Wait for the pending and approval stage, and avoid reversing the request if the site allows it.
- Check your Skrill balance and, if you want the money in your bank, start a bank withdrawal from Skrill.
Moving money from Skrill to a Canadian bank is a separate step with its own fee and a few business days of processing, so many regular players keep a balance in the wallet for future deposits. That saves fees but makes it easier to lose track of what you have won or lost, so check your totals.
Skrill limits and payout times at casinos we list
Casinos set their own minimums and payout schedules for Skrill. The table below comes from our own brand records for casinos that list Skrill; it is a starting point, not a guarantee.
Recorded minimum deposits and payout times for casinos accepting Skrill (figures as recorded; check the cashier for current terms)| Casino | Minimum deposit (as listed) | Payout time (as listed) |
|---|
| LevelUp Casino | C$15 (C$20 for welcome bonus) | Interac/e-wallets/crypto: instant; cards/bank: 1–5 days |
| Golden Crown | C$30 (Paysafecard C$20) | Crypto: instant–24 h; Interac/Skrill: 0–24 h |
| Olympia Casino | C$30 | E-wallets/crypto/cards: 0–1 h; bank: 3–7 days |
| RocketPlay | €20 | Crypto/e-wallets: 0–1 h; cards: 3–5 days; bank: 3–7 days |
| Ice Casino | C$10; C$20 for welcome bonus | E-wallets: within 24 h; cards: 1–3 business days |
| 7Bit Casino | From C$2 (e-wallets); C$40 for welcome bonus | Crypto & e-wallets: instant; Interac/cards: 1–3 days |
| GGPoker | C$10 | E-wallets: same day; cards: within 24 h |
| 888casino | C$10 (C$20 for welcome bonus) | Most methods 4–6 days |
Skrill fees
Skrill's fees change from time to time and can differ by country and account status, so check the current fee page in your account. These are the categories that matter for casino players:
Where Skrill costs can appear| Fee type | When it applies | How to reduce it |
|---|
| Loading (upload) fee | Funding the wallet by some methods, especially cards | Use the cheapest funding option shown in the app |
| Currency conversion | Wallet, casino and bank currencies differ; Skrill adds a margin (widely reported at about 4%) on top of its base rate | Hold CAD and play at casinos that accept CAD |
| Bank withdrawal fee | Moving your balance from Skrill to your bank | Withdraw less often, in larger amounts |
| Sending money | Peer-to-peer transfers to other users | Not usually needed for casino play |
| Inactivity fee | Charged monthly after a long period without a transaction | Close or use dormant accounts |
| Casino-side fee | Rare; a few cashiers add a small percentage | Check the cashier before confirming |
The currency margin is the cost most often overlooked, because it is built into the rate. A deposit and withdrawal cycle in a non-CAD currency can cost two conversions. Our fees guide shows how to work out the real cost.
Limits and the VIP programme
Skrill's limits depend on how far you have verified your account; a fully verified account can move considerably more than a new one. Casinos then apply their own per-transaction and periodic caps. Skrill also runs a VIP programme (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond tiers) based on transfer volume, with lower fees and higher limits at each level. It can make sense for high-volume users, but chasing a tier is never a reason to gamble more. See our limits guide.
Skrill and casino bonuses
This is the most important caveat. Many casinos exclude Skrill and Neteller deposits from welcome bonuses and some reloads, largely because of past bonus abuse involving e-wallets. If you want a bonus, read the terms first, and if Skrill is excluded, make the qualifying deposit with another method. Also check the qualifying minimum, wagering requirement, maximum bet and time limit. Our bonus and payment method guide explains the typical rules.
Check the bonus terms before you deposit with Skrill. Exclusions are common and usually cannot be fixed after the deposit is made.
Skrill on mobile
The Skrill app for iOS and Android shows your balance and history, sends push notifications for each payment and supports biometric login. Casino deposits on a phone work the same way as on desktop, through a pop-up login or a hand-off to the app. Download the app only from the official store listing.
Skrill in Ontario, Alberta and the rest of Canada
Where you live affects how useful Skrill is. Ontario players use operators registered with iGaming Ontario, and those vary in which e-wallets they support; see our Ontario page. Alberta's regulated market, launched in July 2026 with PlayAlberta and AGLC-registered operators, is still settling its cashiers; see our Alberta page. Provincial lottery sites such as PlayNow, Espacejeux and ALC focus on bank-based payments. Skrill is most at home at internationally licensed casinos (for example Curaçao, Anjouan, Kahnawake or Malta) that accept players from across Canada.
How safe is Skrill?
Skrill is a regulated e-money provider within a listed payments group. It supports two-factor authentication and biometric app login, and it runs fraud monitoring on transactions. Turn on 2FA, use a unique password and never share codes with anyone claiming to be support. Phishing emails imitating Skrill are common, so log in only through the official app or by typing the address yourself. The wallet protects your bank details; it does not make an unlicensed casino trustworthy, so check the operator too. Our payment security guide lists what to look for.

Taxes and responsible play
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxable in Canada; our taxes guide explains the exceptions. A separate wallet can help with budgeting, but it can also hide how much you have spent. Set deposit limits at the casino, review your Skrill history monthly and keep play affordable. Our responsible gambling page lists tools and support organizations.
Frequently asked questions
Can Canadians use Skrill at online casinos?
Yes. Skrill is widely accepted at internationally licensed casinos that serve Canada and at some Ontario-registered operators, though rarely at provincial lottery sites.
Is Skrill legal in Canada?
Skrill is a regulated payment service that Canadians can sign up for. Whether a given casino is legal for you depends on your province and the operator's licence, not on the wallet.
How fast are Skrill casino withdrawals?
Once a casino approves the payout, funds often reach Skrill the same day. Approval itself can take from a few hours to a few business days.
Why can't I get a bonus with Skrill?
Many casinos exclude Skrill and Neteller deposits from bonuses. Check the promotion's eligible payment methods before depositing.
Does Skrill charge fees?
Skrill may charge for loading by some methods, currency conversion, withdrawing to a bank and long inactivity. Casinos rarely add their own fee.
What is the minimum Skrill deposit at a casino?
It is set by each casino and is often C$10 to C$20. The minimum to qualify for a bonus is frequently higher.
Can I use Skrill on my phone?
Yes. The Skrill app handles logins, approvals and notifications, and casino deposits on mobile work the same way as on desktop.
Is Skrill the same as Neteller?
No. They are separate wallets owned by the same group and work in similar ways, each with its own fees and VIP programme.
