If you are choosing between an Interac online casino and a PayPal casino in Canada, availability usually decides it before anything else. Interac is in the cashier at nearly every casino that serves Canadians. PayPal only works with gambling merchants it has approved in jurisdictions where they are licensed, so it appears mostly at regulated casinos, chiefly in Ontario, and is rare at offshore-licensed sites.

How each method works
Interac at casinos
Casinos accept Interac through payment processors. You either log in to your bank on the processor's secure page and approve the payment, or send an e-Transfer to the details the cashier shows, sometimes with a reference code. Withdrawals arrive as an e-Transfer to the email or mobile number registered with your bank. Interac is CAD-only and works with the major banks and most credit unions. See our Interac casinos and Interac e-Transfer pages.
PayPal at casinos
Choosing PayPal opens a PayPal login window; once you approve, the deposit lands instantly, funded from your PayPal balance, linked bank account or card. Winnings return to your PayPal balance, and you transfer them to your bank from there. PayPal's own policy limits gambling payments to approved merchants in permitted jurisdictions, which is why it is far more common at regulated sites. Our PayPal casinos page covers the details.
Deposits: step by step
Making a deposit| Step | Interac | PayPal |
|---|
| 1 | Choose Interac in the cashier and enter the amount | Choose PayPal in the cashier and enter the amount |
| 2 | Select your bank and log in, or copy the e-Transfer details | Log in to PayPal in the pop-up window |
| 3 | Approve the payment; answer any security prompt | Pick the funding source and approve |
| 4 | Balance updates, usually within minutes | Balance updates instantly |
PayPal can feel smoother on mobile once set up, especially with saved login. Interac avoids creating another account and keeps everything inside your own bank's environment. Both require the account to be in the same name as your casino account.
Withdrawals
Both methods support withdrawals at casinos that offer them, an advantage over deposit-only options like vouchers and mobile wallets. Interac sends money straight to your chequing account. PayPal credits your PayPal balance, adding a step to reach your bank but letting you keep funds in PayPal if you prefer. A standard PayPal transfer to a Canadian bank account is usually free and takes a few business days; an instant transfer to an eligible debit card costs a fee.
Before either method pays out, expect a pending period and identity checks on your first withdrawal. Casinos also apply closed-loop rules: winnings usually go back to the method you deposited with, up to the deposit amount, before any other method is used. For timings, see fast Interac withdrawals, fast PayPal withdrawals and our how to withdraw guide.
Fees and limits
- Interac fees: casinos rarely charge; some bank plans charge per e-Transfer, while many include a set number free.
- Interac limits: each bank sets daily, weekly and monthly e-Transfer limits for sending and receiving, which can cap large deposits or require a big withdrawal to be split.
- PayPal fees: CAD-to-CAD payments are usually free; converting currency costs a spread above PayPal's base rate, and instant transfers to your bank carry a fee.
- PayPal limits: new or unverified accounts can face sending and receiving limits until you confirm your identity and link a bank.
- Casino caps: both methods are subject to the casino's own minimums and weekly or monthly withdrawal caps.
If a casino runs its cashier in USD or EUR, both routes cost you conversion, so look for a CAD account; see CAD casinos, our fees guide and limits guide.
Casinos we list with Interac, and PayPal status
PayPal is rare in our database because most casinos we review are offshore-licensed. The table shows some casinos that list Interac and whether we recorded PayPal for them. Ontario sites and international versions of the same brand can have different cashiers.

Bonuses and payment method rules
Casinos decide which payment methods qualify for welcome offers. Interac deposits are usually eligible. PayPal is treated differently from casino to casino: some count it like any other deposit, others exclude e-wallets from bonuses. If an offer matters to you, read the terms before choosing the method, not after. In Ontario and Alberta, regulated operators can only show bonus offers in limited ways, so you often see the full terms only on the operator's own site. Our bonus and payment method guide explains how these rules interact.
Privacy and safety
Neither method gives the casino your card or account number. With Interac, you approve payments inside your bank's environment, protected by its login and fraud monitoring. With PayPal, the casino sees your PayPal email, not your bank details, and PayPal adds its own account security and passkey or two-step options.
Neither offers a safety net for gambling itself. PayPal's purchase protection is designed for goods and services and generally will not help with casino deposits or losses, and an e-Transfer that has been deposited cannot be recalled. Only send e-Transfers to details shown in your own casino cashier, and ignore emails or texts asking you to "confirm" a casino payment by link. Our payment security guide and chargebacks guide have more.

- Use both if your casino offers both, but check closed-loop rules before mixing deposit and withdrawal methods.

Frequently asked questions
Is Interac or PayPal better for online casinos in Canada?
Interac is better for availability and direct bank payouts. PayPal is a strong option where offered, mainly at regulated casinos in Ontario.
Which is faster for casino withdrawals?
Both are typically quick after approval, often the same day. PayPal lands in your PayPal balance; Interac lands directly in your bank.
Why can't I find PayPal at my casino?
PayPal only works with gambling merchants it has approved in licensed jurisdictions, which in Canada usually means regulated sites such as those in Ontario.
Do casinos accept Interac e-Transfer for deposits and withdrawals?
Most casinos serving Canada accept Interac for both, though minimums and limits vary by site and by bank.
Can I deposit with PayPal and withdraw with Interac?
Sometimes. Many casinos require withdrawals to the deposit method first, so check the cashier rules or ask support.
Does PayPal charge fees for casino payments?
CAD payments are usually free, but currency conversion and instant transfers to your bank carry fees. Casinos rarely add their own.
Is there a limit on Interac casino deposits?
Yes. Your bank sets e-Transfer limits, and the casino sets its own minimums and maximums. Check both before a large deposit.
Does PayPal buyer protection cover gambling?
You should not count on it. Purchase protection is designed for goods and services and generally will not cover casino deposits or gambling losses; check PayPal's user agreement.
Gambling should be entertainment. Set limits, never chase losses, and get support if it stops being fun: see our responsible gambling page.
