Litecoin casinos in Canada accept LTC alongside other cryptocurrencies, and many crypto players use it as their everyday deposit coin. Litecoin was built as a lighter, faster version of Bitcoin: blocks arrive about four times as often and network fees are usually a fraction of a cent. That makes it one of the cheapest ways to move small and medium amounts into a crypto cashier. You still carry the usual crypto trade-offs: the LTC price is volatile, transfers are irreversible and the casinos that take it are offshore-licensed.

What is Litecoin?
Litecoin was released in October 2011 by Charlie Lee, a former Google engineer, as a fork of Bitcoin's code. It keeps Bitcoin's basic design (proof-of-work mining, a public ledger, a capped supply) but changes a few parameters: blocks are targeted every 2.5 minutes instead of ten, mining uses the Scrypt algorithm instead of SHA-256, and the maximum supply is 84 million LTC, four times Bitcoin's. The block reward halves every 840,000 blocks, roughly every four years; the last halving was in August 2023.
Litecoin has often been an early adopter of Bitcoin upgrades: it activated SegWit in 2017, before Bitcoin, and in 2022 added MWEB (MimbleWimble Extension Blocks), an optional privacy feature. MWEB uses its own address type starting with ltcmweb1, and many exchanges and casinos do not support it, so use a regular LTC address for casino payments.
Confirmations and deposit speed
Because a new block arrives every couple of minutes, each confirmation comes sooner than on Bitcoin. Casinos still decide how many they need: a few confirmations for routine deposits and more, such as six or twelve, for larger sums. In practice that means most Litecoin deposits are credited within 5 to 30 minutes. Litecoin is rarely congested, so a normal fee is almost always enough to get into the next block.
Why casinos accept Litecoin
LTC gives casinos a cheap, quick payment rail with no chargebacks and no card processor, and it is easy to support for any operator that already handles Bitcoin. That suits internationally licensed casinos (for example under Curaçao, Anjouan or Kahnawake licences). Ontario's regulated market does not allow crypto payments, so operators registered with iGaming Ontario take Interac, cards and e-wallets instead; see our Ontario page. Litecoin is less universal than Bitcoin, so check the cashier before you buy.
Litecoin vs look-alike coins and addresses
Avoiding mix-ups in the cashier| What you see | What it is | Can you use it for an LTC deposit? |
|---|
| Address starting with L or M | Standard Litecoin address | Yes |
| Address starting with ltc1 | Native SegWit Litecoin address; cheapest to spend from | Yes |
| Address starting with 3 | Older Litecoin script address that looks like Bitcoin's | Only if the cashier shows it for LTC |
| Address starting with ltcmweb1 | Private MWEB address | Usually no; few casinos support MWEB |
| Bitcoin address (1, 3, bc1) | A different coin and network | No |
| LTC token on BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) | A pegged token with a 0x address | Only to a cashier option that names BEP-20 |
Some wallets hold both BTC and LTC in one app, and older Litecoin addresses can look like Bitcoin ones. Always pick Litecoin as the asset and check that the cashier option you copied from says LTC.
Buying Litecoin in Canada
Most Canadians buy LTC on a trading platform registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), funded in CAD by Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer. Kraken, Coinbase, Wealthsimple, Bitbuy and Newton are examples that have listed LTC for Canadians; check the CSA's register and your platform's current coin list. Platforms verify your identity, as crypto dealers must register with FINTRAC.
- Platform withdrawal fee: often small for LTC, but check it, since it can exceed the network fee many times over.
- Spread: instant-buy screens usually price in a wider margin than the order book.
- Gambling transfers: some platforms restrict sending to gambling sites, so moving LTC to your own wallet first is common.
- Casino on-ramps: card-to-crypto widgets in the cashier are quick but cost more than a bank-funded purchase.
Choosing a Litecoin wallet
For regular casino deposits, a mobile or desktop wallet that supports LTC, such as Litewallet, Exodus or Trust Wallet, is the simplest choice and lets you scan the cashier's QR code. Hardware wallets such as Ledger or Trezor suit larger balances you keep offline. An exchange account works for buying and selling but leaves the platform in control of transfers. Whichever you use, write the seed phrase on paper, keep it offline and never share it, and confirm the wallet can send to SegWit (ltc1) addresses.
How to deposit Litecoin at a casino
- Open the cashier, choose Litecoin and note the minimum deposit.
- Copy the LTC address or scan the QR code; casinos may issue a new address each time.
- In your wallet, select LTC (not BTC), paste the address and compare the first and last characters.
- Enter an amount above the minimum; the network fee is usually tiny, so the default setting is fine.
- Send and keep the transaction ID (TxID).
- Your balance updates after the casino's required confirmations, usually within half an hour.
Common deposit mistakes
- Sending BTC instead of LTC from a multi-coin wallet, or LTC to a Bitcoin address.
- Using an MWEB address that the casino cannot detect.
- Below the minimum: under-minimum deposits are often not credited.
- Old address: reusing a deposit address after the casino has rotated it.
- Sending from an exchange that blocks gambling transfers, which can delay or reject the withdrawal on the exchange's side.
Withdrawing Litecoin
Choose Litecoin in the withdrawal section, paste a receiving address from your own LTC wallet and submit the request. The casino's review is normally the slowest step; many require identity verification (KYC) before the first payout or above certain amounts, and some ask for two-factor authentication or let you whitelist addresses. Once sent, LTC typically arrives within minutes. Withdrawal minimums and any casino fee are often set in LTC. To get dollars, send the coins to your trading platform, sell and withdraw CAD to your bank. See our KYC guide, how to withdraw and fast crypto withdrawal casinos.
Tracking a Litecoin transaction
Every transfer has a TxID. Paste it into a Litecoin block explorer such as Blockchair or litecoinspace.org to see whether it confirmed, how many confirmations it has and which address received it. Send the TxID to support if a confirmed deposit is missing from your balance, and ask the casino for it if a payout has not reached you.
Litecoin fees and limits
Litecoin fees work like Bitcoin's: they depend on the size of the transaction in bytes and on demand, not on the amount. Because Litecoin blocks are frequent and seldom full, a typical transfer costs a fraction of a cent to a few cents. That is the main reason players choose LTC for small deposits; see low deposit crypto casinos. The network fee is rarely the biggest cost, though: platform withdrawal fees, spreads when buying and selling, and any fixed casino withdrawal fee usually matter more. Our fees guide explains how to add them up.
Casinos set their own LTC minimums and maximums, sometimes in coins rather than dollars, and many cap withdrawals per day, week or month, with higher limits for verified or VIP accounts. Because LTC's price moves, a minimum quoted in coins can be worth noticeably more or less in CAD from one week to the next.

Games and bonuses with Litecoin
An LTC balance can be used across the whole lobby: slots and jackpots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, live dealer tables, and crash, dice, mines or Plinko originals at crypto-first sites, many of them provably fair so you can verify each round with the published server and client seeds. Low fees make LTC handy for topping up during a session, which is also a reason to set limits first.
- Welcome and reload bonuses usually accept LTC; check that Litecoin is not excluded.
- Wagering, max-bet and game-weighting rules apply exactly as with fiat deposits.
- Cashback and rakeback at crypto casinos may be paid in the coin you play with.
- Valuation is usually based on the CAD or USD value of your LTC at deposit time.
See bonuses and payment methods for more.
How safe are Litecoin casinos?
Litecoin has run since 2011 with a strong security record, and every transfer is public and verifiable. The risks are the casino and human error: payments are irreversible, there is no chargeback, and a balance at a casino depends on that operator. Check the licence and complaints route, prefer sites whose games are tested by labs such as eCOGRA, iTech Labs or GLI, and read our review notes. Keep your recovery phrase offline, download wallets only from official sources, use two-factor authentication and send a small test transfer to any new casino first. Litecoin is pseudonymous, not anonymous: addresses can be linked to you once you use a verified platform.
Pros
- Faster blocks than Bitcoin
- Network fees usually a fraction of a cent
- Ideal for small and frequent deposits

- Long track record since 2011
Cons
- Price volatility affects your CAD balance
- Accepted at fewer casinos than Bitcoin
- Address formats can be confused with Bitcoin's
- Irreversible transfers; mistakes are costly
- Not available at Ontario-regulated casinos

Taxes and responsible play
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada, but the CRA treats crypto as property: selling, swapping or spending LTC that has risen in value can create a capital gain. Keep records of your purchases; our taxes guide explains the basics and a tax professional can confirm your situation.
Cheap, fast deposits make it easy to top up without thinking. Set a CAD budget, use deposit limits and cool-off tools, and contact services such as ConnexOntario or Gamblers Anonymous if gambling stops being fun. Our responsible gambling page lists help across Canada.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Litecoin at online casinos in Canada?
Yes, at many internationally licensed crypto-friendly casinos. Ontario-regulated operators do not accept crypto.
Is Litecoin faster than Bitcoin for casino deposits?
Usually. Litecoin blocks arrive about every 2.5 minutes versus about 10 for Bitcoin, so the confirmations a casino needs come sooner.
How much are Litecoin fees?
The network fee is usually a fraction of a cent to a few cents. Platform withdrawal fees, spreads and any casino fee often cost more than the network itself.
Why was my Litecoin deposit not credited?
Common causes are sending BTC instead of LTC, using an MWEB address, an amount below the minimum or an outdated deposit address. Check the TxID on a Litecoin explorer and send it to support.
Can I withdraw casino winnings in Litecoin?
Usually yes at casinos that accept LTC deposits. Expect identity verification before your first withdrawal.
Does Litecoin's price affect my winnings?
Yes, if your balance is held in LTC: its CAD value can rise or fall regardless of your results. Some casinos convert deposits to a fiat balance, which removes that effect while the money is there.
Can I use Litecoin on mobile casinos?
Yes. Scan the cashier's QR code with a mobile wallet that supports LTC and confirm the asset is Litecoin before sending.
Are Litecoin casino winnings taxed?
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada, but gains on the LTC itself can be when you sell or swap it. Consult a tax professional.
