Interac online casinos let you pay from your Canadian chequing account in CAD, approve each payment in your own banking app and, at many sites, receive winnings back the same way. No card numbers are shared and there is no currency conversion, which is why Interac is the first method most Canadian players look for in a cashier. This guide covers what Interac actually is, how casino deposits and payouts work behind the scenes, the limits and fees that apply, and how to choose a casino that handles Interac well.

What is Interac?
Interac is Canada's domestic payment network, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Toronto. Almost every Canadian bank and most credit unions are connected to it, which is why the same Interac logo appears at grocery tills, ATMs and online cashiers. Interac does not hold your money: it routes payments between financial institutions, and each payment is authorised by your own bank.
Three Interac products are worth separating, because casino cashiers do not always label them clearly:
Interac products and how they relate to casinos| Product | How it works | Role at online casinos |
|---|
| Interac e-Transfer | Money sent from online or mobile banking to an email address or mobile number | The standard method for casino deposits and payouts |
| Interac Debit | Your bank card used at a till or, with some banks, at online checkouts | Rarely offered for casino deposits; withdrawals not supported |
| Interac Online | Older redirect-to-your-bank checkout service | Largely phased out; if a cashier shows "Interac", it is usually e-Transfer |
Our Interac e-Transfer casinos page goes deeper into the mechanics of e-Transfer itself: Request Money, Autodeposit, security questions and troubleshooting. This page focuses on choosing and using Interac casinos as a whole.
How casinos receive your Interac payment
Online casinos rarely receive e-Transfers into their own bank accounts. Instead, a licensed payment processor (Gigadat is one name players often see) collects the transfer, matches it to your casino account using a reference or your registered email, and credits your balance. This explains a few things that surprise first-time users: the recipient name in your banking app is the processor rather than the casino, the instructions differ from one cashier to another, and your bank statement may show a payment company's name.
Where you can use Interac at a casino
Interac is accepted across every type of site Canadians use, but the rules around each differ:
- Ontario: private operators registered with iGaming Ontario and regulated by the AGCO, plus PlayOLG. Interac is one of the most common cashier options on these sites. See our Ontario guide.
- Alberta: a regulated market launched in July 2026, with PlayAlberta alongside AGLC-registered private operators. See our Alberta page.
- Other provinces: lottery-corporation sites such as PlayNow (BC and Manitoba), Espacejeux (Quebec) and ALC (Atlantic Canada). Read our British Columbia guide for an example.
- Offshore-licensed casinos: sites licensed in jurisdictions such as Curaçao, Kahnawake, Anjouan or Malta that accept Canadian players. Many support Interac through processors, often with different limits and payout times from regulated sites.
Whatever the site, Interac requires a Canadian bank account with online banking, so it is not an option for visitors without one.
How to deposit at an Interac casino
- Sign in, open the cashier and choose Interac (it may be labelled Interac e-Transfer).
- Enter the amount in CAD and confirm the email address or mobile number registered with your online banking.
- Follow the instructions shown: either a Request Money notice arrives in your banking app for you to approve, or the cashier gives you a recipient and reference to send the e-Transfer yourself.
- Approve the payment in your banking app. If a reference or security answer is shown, copy it exactly.
- Return to the casino; the balance normally updates within seconds to a few minutes.
Pay only from an account in your own name. Casinos and processors usually reject or refund payments where the bank account holder does not match the casino account, and a mismatch can hold up later withdrawals.
Request Money versus sending manually
With Request Money, the processor sends a payment request to your bank and you simply accept it, so there is no reference to copy and little room for error. With a manual send, you add the processor as a recipient and include a reference code; a missing code or a different amount is the most common reason a deposit is not credited automatically. If both options are offered, Request Money is usually the smoother route.
Withdrawing with Interac
A major advantage of Interac over cards, Apple Pay and prepaid vouchers is that many casinos also pay out by Interac. You request a withdrawal, the casino reviews it, and once approved the processor sends an e-Transfer to your registered email or mobile number.
- Pending period: most casinos hold a request for an internal review, commonly from a few hours to two business days. Some let you cancel a pending withdrawal; doing so and replaying the money is a common way people lose winnings.
- Verification: the first withdrawal usually triggers identity checks (photo ID, proof of address and sometimes proof of the bank account). Completing KYC verification early avoids delays.
- Transfer time: after approval, Interac payouts typically arrive within minutes to one business day, though some casinos batch payments.
- Caps: casinos set per-transaction, daily, weekly or monthly withdrawal limits, and larger wins may be paid in instalments or by bank wire.
- Same-method rule: casinos often require you to withdraw to the method you deposited with, where possible, as an anti-money-laundering control.
Autodeposit and accepting a payout
If Autodeposit is switched on in your banking app, casino payouts go straight into your account without a security question. Without it, you accept the transfer from the email or text notification and answer the security question set by the sender. An e-Transfer that is not accepted within 30 days expires and goes back to the sender, so do not ignore payout notifications. If speed matters most, see fast-withdrawal Interac casinos and our guide on how to withdraw.
Interac casino fees and limits
Fees. Most casinos do not charge for Interac deposits, and many process withdrawals for free, though some apply a flat fee or allow a set number of free payouts per month. The bank side varies by institution and plan: many chequing packages include e-Transfers at no charge, while basic plans at some banks charge roughly C$0.50–C$1.50 per transfer. Receiving an e-Transfer into your account is generally free. Our fees guide compares costs across methods.
Limits. Several limits stack up, and the lowest one applies to any single payment:
Who sets which Interac limit| Limit | Set by | What to check |
|---|
| Minimum deposit | Casino | Cashier; often C$10–C$20 |
| Maximum deposit per transaction | Casino and payment processor | Cashier terms |
| Daily, weekly and monthly sending limits | Your bank | Banking app or your branch; some banks raise limits on request |
| Withdrawal caps | Casino | Payment terms; may differ for VIP players |
| Bonus qualifying deposit | Casino | Promotion terms; often higher than the cashier minimum |
If you mainly play with small amounts, our Interac minimum-deposit casinos page lists lower entry points, and the limits guide explains how each layer works.

Interac casinos on mobile
Interac works particularly well on a phone because the approval step happens in your banking app. On mobile, a typical deposit means tapping Interac in the casino's site or app, switching to your banking app to accept the Request Money notice (often with Face ID or a fingerprint), then switching back. Most casinos run in the mobile browser, so a separate casino app is not required. Keep your banking app updated and make sure notifications are on so payout notices are not missed.
Interac and casino bonuses
Interac deposits usually qualify for the common bonus types: welcome match offers, reload bonuses, free spins and cashback. A few points are worth checking before you deposit:
- Qualifying minimum: the deposit needed to trigger a bonus is often higher than the cashier minimum.
- Wagering: welcome offers commonly carry wagering requirements of around 30x–40x or more, and no-deposit offers often more, so a bonus can delay a withdrawal.
- Method exclusions: Interac is rarely excluded, unlike some e-wallets, but always read the terms.
- Opt-in or promo code: some offers must be selected in the cashier before you pay.
Our guide to bonuses and payment methods explains how your choice of method can affect eligibility.
Is Interac safe for casino payments?
Interac payments are authorised inside your own banking app, behind your bank's login, encryption and two-step verification, and the casino never sees your card or account number. That makes Interac one of the lower-risk ways to pay online. The risks are mostly human: sending money to the wrong recipient, falling for a fake payment notice, or playing at an unlicensed site. Unlike a credit card, an accepted e-Transfer generally cannot be disputed or charged back.
- Use only the recipient details shown in the official cashier, never details sent by chat or email.
- Treat unexpected e-Transfer emails or texts with suspicion; open your banking app directly instead of clicking links.
- Check the casino's licence and payment terms before your first deposit.
- Keep two-step verification switched on for both your bank and your casino account.
Our payment security guide covers more good habits, and the chargebacks guide explains why bank payments are harder to reverse than card payments.

How to choose the best Interac casino
- Confirm Interac is listed for both deposits and withdrawals, not deposits only.
- Check minimum and maximum amounts against how you plan to play.
- Read the withdrawal terms: pending times, weekly caps, fees and any limit on free payouts.
- Make sure the site holds balances in CAD to avoid conversion costs (see CAD casinos).
- Check the licence and whether the site is available in your province.
- Look for responsible gambling tools such as deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion.
Taxes and responsible play
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada, whatever payment method you use; professional gamblers may be treated differently. See our taxes guide and speak to a tax professional if unsure.
Because Interac is so quick, it is easy to top up again on impulse. Set a budget before you play, use the casino's deposit limits and cool-off tools, and remember that some banks let you lower your own e-Transfer limit too. If gambling stops being fun, support is available from services such as ConnexOntario and Gamblers Anonymous; our responsible gambling page lists tools and helplines across Canada.
Frequently asked questions
Do all Canadian online casinos accept Interac?
Not all, but Interac is one of the most widely supported methods at casinos that serve Canadian players, both regulated and offshore. Check the cashier for the Interac logo and whether it is available for withdrawals as well as deposits.
How long does an Interac casino withdrawal take?
After the casino approves your request, Interac payouts usually arrive within minutes to one business day. Including the pending period and first-time verification, the total is typically 1–3 business days.
Is there a fee for using Interac at a casino?
Most casinos do not charge for Interac deposits, and many offer free withdrawals. Your bank may charge a small fee per e-Transfer depending on your account plan.
What is the difference between Interac and Interac e-Transfer at casinos?
In practice they are usually the same thing. Interac Online, the older bank-login checkout, has been largely phased out, so casino Interac payments almost always run on e-Transfer through a payment processor.
Why does my banking app show a different name from the casino?
Casinos usually receive Interac payments through a payment processor, so the recipient name or statement entry is the processor's. That is normal as long as you used the details shown in the official cashier.
What is the maximum I can deposit with Interac?
It is the lower of the casino's maximum and your bank's e-Transfer sending limit, which differs by bank and account. Check your banking app for your daily and weekly limits.
Can I claim a bonus with an Interac deposit?
Usually yes, as Interac is rarely excluded from welcome offers. Read the bonus terms for the qualifying minimum, wagering requirement and any opt-in or promo code.
Are Interac casino winnings taxed in Canada?
Recreational gambling winnings are generally not taxed in Canada, whatever payment method you use. Professional gamblers may be treated differently; see our taxes guide.
Gambling should be entertainment. Set limits, never chase losses, and get support if it stops being fun: see our responsible gambling page.
