Instadebit has been discontinued. It stopped accepting payments on 27 February 2026, and users had until 30 April 2026 to withdraw remaining balances. You can no longer deposit at a casino with Instadebit, even where an old logo is still displayed.
For years, online casino Canada Instadebit payments were a popular way to fund an account straight from a bank without sharing card or account details with the casino. That option is gone. This page explains what Instadebit was, what happened in 2026, what to do if you still have money tied up in it or in a casino account funded with it, and which payment methods now come closest for Canadian players.

What was Instadebit?
Instadebit was a Canadian payment service built for online merchants, and casinos were among its biggest users. You opened a free account, linked it to your chequing account and verified your identity. When you paid a casino, Instadebit approved the deposit instantly and drew the money from your bank in the background. Winnings paid out to Instadebit sat in your account until you transferred them to your bank.
That made it a hybrid between a bank transfer and an e-wallet. The casino only saw an Instadebit payment, never your account number, and one account could be reused across many sites. The drawbacks were a separate registration, service fees on some transactions and an extra step, usually a few business days, to move winnings to your bank.
What happened to Instadebit in 2026
Instadebit closure timeline, as reported by Canadian casino review sites| Date | What changed |
|---|
| 27 February 2026 | Instadebit stopped processing payments; deposits at casinos and other merchants were no longer possible |
| Until 30 April 2026 | Account holders could withdraw remaining balances to their bank |
| After the deadline | Balances left behind were reported to be returned to the linked bank account after a period of inactivity |
There has been no indication that the service will return, so it is safest to treat the closure as permanent.
If you still had money in Instadebit
- Check your linked bank account for a returned balance first.
- If nothing has arrived, contact Instadebit's support team through its official website, not through links in emails or social media messages.
- Keep your account email, any transaction references and bank statements to hand.
- If your bank account has changed since you linked it, tell Instadebit support so the balance can be traced.
Casino balances you funded with Instadebit
Money already in a casino account is unaffected: it belongs to your casino balance, not to Instadebit. To withdraw it, choose another payout method in the cashier, usually Interac e-Transfer, iDebit or a bank transfer. Because casinos normally pay back to the deposit method, support may ask you to confirm the new method and verify the bank account it pays into, for example with a void cheque or bank statement. Our KYC guide lists the usual documents, and how to withdraw covers the process.
Why some cashiers still show Instadebit
Casino banking pages, footers and review sites are not always updated quickly, so the Instadebit logo may still appear. Do not try to pay through it, and treat any cashier page that still accepts "Instadebit" details with caution. Our own records also still list Instadebit for some casinos where it was offered before the closure; we are updating them, and the cashier is always the final word.
Be wary of emails, texts or social media accounts offering to "recover" Instadebit balances for a fee. These are a common scam pattern after a payment service closes. Deal only with Instadebit's official support and your own bank.
Best Instadebit alternatives for Canadian players
Typical ranges; check each cashier for current terms| Method | How close to Instadebit | Deposits | Withdrawals |
|---|
| iDebit | Closest: bank-linked profile, casino does not see your account number | Instant | At some casinos, via iDebit to your bank |
| Interac e-Transfer | No separate account; paid from your banking app | Instant to minutes | Many casinos, often 1–3 business days |
| MuchBetter, Skrill, Neteller | Stored balance like Instadebit's, reusable across casinos | Instant | Many casinos, often fast |
| Debit and credit cards | Widely available, but card details go to the cashier | Instant | Sometimes, usually slower |
| Crypto | No bank link; offshore casinos only, not Ontario-regulated sites | Minutes | Often fast once approved |
| Prepaid vouchers | Privacy-focused, deposit only | Instant | No |
iDebit: the most similar option
iDebit also sits between your bank and the casino, keeps your account number away from the site and can support payouts at some casinos. You authorise each payment by signing in to your bank inside the iDebit window. It may charge its own fees, and withdrawals take an extra step to reach your bank, much as Instadebit did.
Interac e-Transfer: the simplest option
Interac e-Transfer needs no extra account at all, works at more casinos than any other bank method and often pays winnings straight into your bank, especially if you switch on Autodeposit. Bank sending limits and per-transfer fees on some account plans are the main constraints. See our Interac casinos guide.
E-wallets: if you liked keeping a separate balance
If part of Instadebit's appeal was keeping winnings in a separate account for your next deposit, an e-wallet does the same job. Check that the casino accepts the wallet for withdrawals and that bonuses are not excluded for it. Our e-wallet casinos page compares the options.

How to switch from Instadebit
- Withdraw or confirm the return of any balance left in Instadebit.
- In each casino you use, open the cashier and pick a new method that supports both deposits and withdrawals.
- Register the method in your own name; for Interac, check the email or phone number matches your online banking.
- Upload any documents the casino requests to verify the new payout method.
- Make a small first deposit to confirm everything works before larger payments.
- Review bonus terms, as some promotions exclude certain e-wallets.
Which replacement suits you?
- You want the least hassle: Interac e-Transfer, because it runs from the banking app you already use and needs no new account.
- You valued keeping your account number away from casinos: iDebit, or an e-wallet funded by Interac or bank transfer.
- You often hit your bank's e-Transfer limit: iDebit, an e-wallet or, for large payouts, a bank wire.
- You liked holding winnings in a separate balance: an e-wallet such as MuchBetter, Skrill or Neteller.
- You play at Ontario-regulated sites: stick to the bank, card and e-wallet methods those cashiers list; crypto is not accepted there.
- You only deposit small amounts: check minimums, as some methods start higher than others; see minimum deposit casinos.

Fees, limits and safety with the alternatives
Switching method changes your cost and limits. Interac fees depend on your bank plan and are capped by your e-Transfer limits; iDebit may charge its own fees; e-wallets can charge for currency conversion or bank withdrawals. Compare them in our fees guide and limits guide. Whichever you choose, pay only from accounts in your own name, use two-step verification and start payments from the official cashier; our payment security guide has more.
Responsible play
A change of payment method is a good moment to reset limits. Set deposit limits on the new method at each casino, decide a CAD budget before you play, and use cool-off or self-exclusion tools if you need a break. Our responsible gambling page lists support services across Canada.

No. Even if a casino still shows the Instadebit logo, the service no longer processes payments. Choose another method such as iDebit or Interac e-Transfer.
What happened to money left in my Instadebit account?
Remaining balances were reported to be returned to the linked bank account. If yours has not arrived, contact Instadebit support through its official website with your account details.

Your casino balance is not affected. Choose another payout method in the cashier, such as Interac e-Transfer or iDebit, and complete any verification the casino requests.

iDebit is the most similar, as it links to your bank without sharing your account number with the casino. Interac e-Transfer is the most widely accepted and needs no extra account.
Was Instadebit the same as iDebit?
