Stake review

Stake is one of the world's best-known crypto casinos and sportsbooks, with in-house Stake Originals, a deep VIP programme and fast crypto payouts. The trade-offs are crypto-centred banking, no standard welcome bonus and a history of legal and advertising controversies.

Overview

Stake was founded in 2017 and is operated by Medium Rare N.V. under a Curaçao Gaming Control Board licence. Its founders also created Easygo, the studio behind Stake Originals, and launched the Kick streaming platform. According to The Spike, Canada is on Stake's allowed list, but Stake is not available in Ontario. Banking is built around crypto (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT and 20+ other coins), with a CAD option after phone verification; see our crypto casinos page.

Games and software

The Spike counts more than 4,000 games from 55+ developers, including Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Relax Gaming and NetEnt. Stake Originals such as Crash, Plinko, Mines and Dice carry listed RTPs of around 99%. The live casino has 110+ tables, including Crazy Time and Lightning Blackjack. The sportsbook covers 35+ sports and 14+ esports.

Bonuses and promotions

Stake does not normally run a standard welcome bonus; some affiliates advertise code-based deposit matches, which we do not list here. The main value for regular players comes from the VIP programme, which The Spike describes as follows:

  • Tiers based on lifetime wagering: Bronze ($10,000) to Diamond ($25 million)
  • Level-up bonuses, daily reloads and weekly and monthly rewards
  • Rakeback and a dedicated VIP host at the top tiers
  • 'Dynamic' bonuses for existing players

If you take any bonus, read its wagering terms carefully; our bonus guide can help.

Mobile experience

Stake has an iOS app but no Android app. The responsive mobile site works on all devices and gives access to the full casino, Originals and sportsbook, so Android users lose little by playing in the browser.

Customer support

Support is available 24/7 by live chat with human agents, plus email (typically within 12 hours) and a help centre with 120+ articles. Casino Guru confirms French among 16 supported languages and rated support as fast and professional.

Safety, licence and reputation

Casino Guru gives Stake a Safety Index of 7.9/10 (above average), finding its terms fair, no blacklist entries and low withheld winnings relative to its size. User reviews there are mixed, citing verification delays and unhelpful support alongside fast withdrawals. Wikipedia documents controversies over streamer sponsorships, a 2025 UK advertising investigation, a class action naming the Stake.us operator (sent to arbitration in 2026) and 2026 US lawsuits alleging ads targeted minors, which Stake disputes. Expect phone and identity verification. Our sources do not detail responsible gambling tools; see our responsible gambling page. Ontario residents should use sites registered with iGaming Ontario instead; see our Ontario guide.

Limits often differ by payment method and VIP level, and casinos can change them without notice. Large withdrawals may be split into instalments and usually require completed KYC verification.

How to deposit at Stake

Stake does not list Interac in the information we have, so Canadian players will typically use Bitcoin or another listed method. Choose the method in the cashier, enter the amount and confirm with your provider. See how to deposit for a general walkthrough.

Withdrawals

Reported withdrawal times: Crypto: a few minutes. Expect identity checks (KYC) before the first payout, and note that casinos usually pay back to the method you deposited with where possible. Read how to withdraw and KYC verification before you request a cash-out.

Stake pros and cons

Pros

  • Huge brand with casino, Originals and sportsbook
  • Fast crypto withdrawals with no listed cap
  • 24/7 live chat, including French
  • Extensive VIP rewards for high-volume players
  • Crypto payments accepted

Cons

  • Crypto-centred banking; Interac not confirmed
  • No standard welcome bonus
  • Not available in Ontario
  • Ongoing legal and advertising controversies
  • Offshore licence: not regulated for Ontario

Our verdict

Stake is best for experienced crypto users outside Ontario who bet on sports as well as play casino games, and who will benefit from its VIP rakeback. Players who want Interac deposits, a classic welcome bonus or a brand without regulatory controversy should look elsewhere. As with any offshore site, verify your account early and keep to set limits.

Ontario residents can legally play only at operators registered with iGaming Ontario. Stake is licensed in Curaçao; outside Ontario, many Canadians use offshore-licensed casinos, while provincial lottery sites run the regulated options. Check the casino's terms for your province.
